Presidential Campaign

ALERT 2023-10-12:

The official campaign website has launched here: https://www.fialforward.com/

Part 1) Campaign Platform:

  1. Renew Constitutional Commitments: Reinvigorate the separation of powers and checks and balances. Our nation’s fundamental structures deserve fresh perspectives. That’s why I propose relocating one or two of the three federal branches — starting with the U.S. President — outside of Washington, D.C.
  2. Heal the Nation Through Constitutional Amendments: Let’s work together to amend the U.S. Constitution with both long-neglected principles and innovative ideas. We haven’t written any amendments since 1971, and several dozen are overdue! Some non-amendment ideas include term limits, age limits, and one President per family. There are many controversial ideas at the link, but please remember: amending the Constitution is a collective effort. No person has the final say, and amendments require a 2/3 majority vote, bringing together Americans of all backgrounds. Here are some examples.
  3. Lead on Climate Change: It’s time for our civilization to unite in deciding, implementing, and exporting climate change solutions. Our future depends on it, and we must be at the forefront of this global endeavor. If the U.S. does not lead, who will? (Find out more here. Please note that this is my least-developed website section, but there are many people already leading I hope to attract for help.)

Part 2) Goals for the national campaign itself:

A campaign isn’t just about winning an election, it’s about initiating change in how we engage in political discourse and decision-making. While these goals may change, they include:

  1. Healing through dialogue about the Constitution:
    • Much like the platform’s aim to heal throgh constitutional amendments, a campaign seeks to heal the nation through debate, discussion, and discovery. We must talk, yell, cry, get angry—and then we must listen. Through understanding, we can begin to heal.
  2. Inspiring everyday Americans to run for office and engage in politics.
    • A campaign should inspire other “regular” Americans to campaign for political offices at all levels, with little money, less travel, less initial fame, lesstime, but with big ideas, no matter the obstacles:
    • Example 1: I want to use less money — or, at least an order of magnitude or two less than the winners in the past 20 years. From 2000 on, Presidential campaigns have spent: $2 Billion in 2000, $2.6 Billion in 2004,$3.3 Billion in 2008, $3 Billion in 2012, $3-5 Billion in 2016, $11 Billion in 2020…. And that’s not including all campaigns, nor does it include Congressional elections. We waste more money on these campaigns than thenational GDP of many countries! What a disgusting waste of money. Another point about conserving resources: I’d like to fly as little as possible during a~12-16 month national campaign, traveling in a trailer as much as possible, with a slow moving group/community/town around the country, with around a week in each state.
    • Example 2: I’d like to physically follow the “eleven American Cultural Nations” map by Colin Woodard of the book American Nations, but within reason, simultaneously respecting the existing States and public speaking engagements.
    • Example 3: Use less time: Does anyone like these Presidential campaignsbeginning 16-24 months before the election? It’s terrible. Do we really needthat much time to pick a President, especially in the modern day withelectronic media? Of course not. I think between 6-weeks and 6-months is morethan ample time to pick a President — three months for party primaries andanother three months before the election… at most! So by starting late(and by vehemently being against 12+ hour days, “burning the midnightoil” during a campaign, especially early on) I’m working towards a futurewhere these campaigns take far, far less time!
  3. Shaping the Candidate through National Input:
    • A campaign should shape the candidate, via input from the entire nation, our fifty states, and our eleven cultural nations. The campaign influences the people, and the people shape the candidate.
    • For example: I’m still growing into the leader I aspire to be. With the support and feedback from diverse Americans, I believe I can become the kind of well-rounded person I’d like to see run this office. So could most Americans, in my opinion! That’s what I want to see. Do you want to help shape that person?

Part 3) How you can help:

  1. Share: Your voice amplifies our message. Share these ideas with friends, family, and fellow Americans. Whether you agree, disagree, or just want to spark a conversation, your shares fuel the dialogue we need. Afraid? Excited? Hesitant? Share your thoughts and let’s engage with these vital issues together. Share not just for me, but for our country. Thank you!
  2. Donate: Your contributions are vital to this grassroots campaign. The first $17,760 will enable us to hire a campaign manager, upgrade our website, enhance or recreate our videos, and organize the initial stump speeches and debates. What comes next? More speeches, dialogue, travel plans, and a dedicated effort to reach every American. Donate now at Fial Family for America.
  3. Support in Other Ways: Your support is about more than money or shares; it’s about shaping a movement. Volunteer, fundraise, offer feedback, or even schedule a formal interview. Whatever your contribution, it matters. Find more ways to engage here: John Fial’s interview link. If you don’t resonate with this campaign, help shape it, or even consider campaigning yourself. Together, we build a future we believe in.
